Hello friends,

I've just checked my small palms seedlings. Suprise for me is, that Syagrus is starting to grow from other "eye".
I know that those cocos similar seeds have under every pore one embryo ready to grow. I haven't that experienced yet.

Here is some photo:

Do you have similar situation? Are these "double palms" able to survive and grow normally?

Thanks and regards

Andrew

I also got this with Actinorhytis callaparia

But I am not sure both trunks will survive.

I also learnt that full sun for Actinorhytis seedlings is not so good!

Best Regards

Philippe

Hello,

I don't know which species is that. I've got this seed from Philippe and he didn't know which Syagrus was that.

It must be S. romanzoffiana, the most common Syagrus...

I am sorry I don't have picture of the plant.

They will do just fine. But don't divide them untill they are at least as thick as your pinkie finger at the base. By that time they would've split from the seed.

Here is my tripple Butia capitata with fellow Palmtalker Troy, and my dog Scout.

This germinated from one seed and is growing very nicely with the trunks are all leaning away from each other - it will be a monster when fully grown.

Your Syagrus will do just fine, plant it out and enjoy!
