Has anyone seen this before? 1 petiole, 2 leaf tops..

This is very odd. I've had a spike growing for awhile that finally opened. As the leaflets opened up I noticed two different petioles that the leaflets were opening from, but as I followed the petioles down they conjoin into one petiole; you can actually see a slight line that should separate the two. I tried to separate them but where they are connected started to tear. If you can imagine, it looks like someone that has two fingers that are fused together.

This would be an awesome mutation if the palm would continue to produce leaves like this and survive, but my concern is where the next leaf going to come from. If it is truly two leaves fused then there is nowhere for new growth to push through.

Any thoughts?

Your palm looks like a dypsis of some type.

Many of those grow new trunks by splitting down the middle of an existing trunk, and I've had plants put out leaves like that before they "grow a new head."

Keep us apprized as to whether that in fact does happen.

Yep, had that happen a few times, as Dave says it can be a precursor to division.
