Saw an article in the LA Times about some giant, rat-sized snails eating up Florida. Sounds like a storyline from one of those B movies, like "Them!" or "The Wasp Woman". Has anyone seen these snails in their area and are experiencing problems with them eating their palms, plants, tires, stucco?!

Of note is that the snail's mucus carries a nemotode that has been associated with a form of meningitis so handling them could be a problem.

Here's the article: http://www.latimes.com/news/science/sciencenow/la-sci-sn-giant-african-land-snail-20130415,0,2472882.story
