can you show us your Nephrosperma?

I like Nephrosperma vanhoutteanum, but the palms in Doranakanda garden are small:

I look forward to seeing them growing!

Hi Philippe, I have three in my garden but they are only as big as yours. I was surprised at how much sun these could take at such a young age.

Cheers

Harry

Nephs are pretty, but they will not take even a little cold or dry. So, they're very limited in their usefulness. That said, they are pretty.

Post away, those of you who can!

Bo, Kim, Justin, will they grow in Hawaii?

Philippe, they grow well here and really aren't all that common. I don't have any in my garden yet, but hopefully that will be corrected soon.

Here is a group of Nephrosperma just up the coast at the Hawaii Tropical Botanic Garden in a parking lot no less. Lower left in the second pic.

Ho! only Archonotophoenix! I dream about Clinostigma it's why see them everywhere! ( do you have them?)

But I must say that Archontophoenix alexandrae, although common, is a beautiful palm.
We have maybe 10 young Alexandra in Doranakanda garden.

Philippe, yes I have Clinostigma. Still young, but already huge. I guess we need another Clinostigma thread.

I've left a few (3) A. alexandrae in the garden, but have cut down many more. They are like Washy's back in San Diego, just

coming up on their own. I had one cut down a few months ago and it mush have been 40-50' tall. (12-15m)

Tim,

I would be happy to see a new Clinostigma thread!

Are Clinostigma seeds easy?

This is how I have to start; i must hope!

Clino seeds are very easy and are very small considering what it turns into. They are the size of a dried blueberry and black in color.

Extremely prolific seeders. Are there restrictions on sending seed to Sri Lanka?

Actuallly I order seeds from Germany and get them in Switzerland, few days before going to Sri Lanka.
Then I enter the country like any swiss tourist, with chocolate!

I am not sure of the postoffice and customs, I am afraid they can keep the parcel or destroy it.

I'll see what RPS seeds can do when they are sown in the Srilankan tropical climate!

Happy growing,

Here are my new seedlings. If only I had succeeded in importing some double coconut palm seeds on my 2015 Seychelles trip I would have all the endemics... One day!

Yes, these seedlings are distinctive and cute at this stage. Later the spines will be wicked as I recall. I'll have to be careful where I position them on my farm.

I enjoyed seeing all the photos in this topic. Thanks!
