Hi,

I have some Chamaedorea and I would like to know what is the soil mix you use for Chamaedorea?

And what fertilizer you add (NPK)?

The pictures are welcome.

Hi Nicolas.

I grow many Chameadoreas down here in pots and i use 1 part potting mix that is very well drained ,1 part peat moss and 1 part course perlite . I use a small amount of Nutricote total 180 day slow release .

Pm Colin Wilson aka A" palmtreesforpleasure " he is a great authority on Chameadoreas and has one of the best collections in Australia.

I use peaty based cactus soil plus 1/3 to 1/2 river sand. This works excellently in the ground as a good topsoil layer to plant them(with mulch above it to retain moisture longer),even mixed with 1/3 native soil and then they happily grow into the subsoil layer. I fertilize them with organic citrus fertilizer since we ain't got any palm fert in Greece.
