Do you also have Welfia or Oenocarpus in your garden?

I look forward to seeing pics of these palms, which I got by chance in Doranakanda garden, but they are small!

We also have Ti's but cows of the village love them!

I'm here seeing these plants now and the color is spectacular in person. It is rare for me to be at the beach during the week. It is great to see the garden in daylight.

El Oasis - beach garden, distinct wet/dry season ,year round 20-38c

Las Heliconias - jungle garden ,800m elevation,150+ inches rainfall, year round 15-28c

Philippe, I've tried the Welfias a couple of times here on the beach but they just seem to burn up. I've watered, amended the soil and, even though they're endemic to Central America, I have not had any luck.

Tim, the Calyptrocalyx are beautiful and much prettier in person.

Bo-Goran, I love to see things bloom here on the beach. It's such a challenge considering the sand and the salt but I thrill at the simple things.
