I have a few in mind such as Kentia,Triangle,cascade,P. roebelinii etc but am looking for more which would not have invasive roots that would damage the pool foundations. The garden will be approx 1 metre away from the pool surrounds. Must be able to take down to -2c on occasion,other than that the climate is bordering on sub tropical.

Generally most palms are suitable for poolside plantings Jude. The root systems on palms are non invasive.....once they make contact with something solid (concrete foundations or pool wall) they simply turn away. The palms you mentioned would be ok...........However I wouldn't plant large palms such as the large Date Palms. You could add the Piccabeen (Bangalow) palm to that list too. I am sure others here with similar climates will be able to add some suggestions.

What about Golden Canes ...any problems with them?
