Epsom salt for 1g plants

Featured Replies

I heard epsom salt is a good source for magnesium.  I have several 1-2 gallon plants that I wonder if they would benefit from epsom salt.  Does this help winterize the plants?  Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes, Epsom salt is a good source for Magnesium Sulfate. The brand "Epsom" makes a specific product for horticultural use but I haven't seen a significant difference after using both products extensively. The palms you purchased from me yesterday receive regular doses of Magnesium Sulfate - every time we fertilize or use fungicide or pesticide. This equates to about a 2 tablespoons each month. Interms of overwintering, I wouldn't be a good judge. All of our plants have always received regular doses of MG-Sf so I wouldn't know the difference. Thanks again for making it yesterday!

Hope this helps.

Thanks Johnny,

I appreciate the advice.  What do you use for fungacide and how often do you apply?  Also what do you use for pesticide, specifically for scale?

Thanks again for the beautifull palms!!
