I have a Veitchia arecina that has sent out 3 new fronds since the spring, not one of them has opened.  The palm looks healthy but obviously is not. Anyone know what causes this?

It's probably not related, but I have noticed that wind seems to instigate fronds opening to some extent.  The windier it is here, the earlier in their developments the fronds open.  In my polytunnel fronds take forever to open.

You probably haven't been totally without wind for three months, so I doubt it has any relevance to your situation.
