The late day lighting really wasn't the best to take a pic in but it still looks pretty contrasting.

This is one I grew from seed (3 years old).

It has the best colour compared to all the others I own and it does not "discolour" during the winter rains.

I would recommend growing these from seed and then selecting for the most silver specimens.

Harry, I observe that segments on your plant are split to about 1/3 of their legth. On mine specimen they are split over the half way down. I wonder whether there are also witnin this variety subvarieties connected somehow also with a different growth rate.

There must be different varieties as is the case with the green chamaerops. This particular specimen grows very quickly (it is only 3 years from seed). I have others nearby growing under the same conditions which are painfully slow.

Note the wax on backside of petiole near the right side of second pic. Does your specimen produce round brigtly red fruits?

no Konstantinos my leaf much silver, but is not cerifera

I have another that has green leaves

I do not remember the color of the fruit

but I remember that this produces seeds to round shape

while those with green leaves produces seeds to oval shaped

I have also 2 small cerifera,but this is very slow !

This is my Chamaerops cerifera. It is very robust but desperately slow unlike other varieties.

Note that the other Chamearops in backround, which is about to devour poor cerifera is at least 10 years younger. Latter has been grown from seeds collected from a seemigly solitary trunked specimen in Barcelona Spain, which had fairly silvery leaves and round red fruits. Offspring seems to retain much of those traits but the solitary habit.

Now back to my cerifera. What I observe on my plant and often in contrast to pictures of other specimens pictured in this topic, is that segments of my plant are very deeply split and spikes on older petioles are blackish. I wonder whether those feats are connected with a slower growing subvariety.

This is stunning

Another example in my yard that is almost white due to the wax produced under Arizona desert growing conditions.

There is also in Europe a bluish to glaucous form mixed in wild stands among green specimens. I found such an exemplary in Barcelona, Spain.

I have a female offspring from above specimen, which was crossed with my male cerifera, resulting in to following hybrid.

Really like the single trunk look of it.  Green or blue.
