Busy times here...not much chance to participate often in the forum, sorry...

Here are a few pictures taken at the lovely palm collection we've recently visited, located some 500 Km south from my place, in Sergipe state, northeastern brazilian coast. At the moment, an adjoining area is being re-landscaped. Located inside a cattle ranch, the garden is turning into a nice palm specialized private botanical garden with time, it really surprised me after almost 2 years, with over 300 species planted in the ground, around the 4 hectare initial area (and growing...). Congrats Liana, let's see a few plants...

Gileno, thanks for sharing Liana's beautiful palm garden. Well planted so that each palm can be seen and appreciated. How would you describe her climate? Obrigado!

Hawaii Island (Big Island), leeward coast, 19 degrees N. latitude, south Kona mauka at approx. 380m (1,250 ft.) and about 1.6 km (1-mile) upslope from ocean.

No record of a hurricane passing over this island (yet!).

Summer maximum rainfall - variable averaging 900-1150mm (35-45") - Perfect drainage on black volcanic rocky soil.

Nice sunsets!

Thanks everyone.

Al, the climate in Sergipe coastal zone is similar to mine here, maybe a little cooler at her place, located some 40 Km inland, where they can get nightime temperatures around 20 degrees C in the winter. They also plant sugarcane in these parts, so the dry season takes at least 3 months every year. Probably very similar to Kona...
