Howdyall:

I've been holding back on the pictures, because I didn't want anyone (least of all me) becoming jaded by the marvelous trip to Hawaii.

These pictures were all taken on January 4, 2012, and it was shaping up to be a rip-roarin' happy-[expletive] New Year, whoo-ee.

The Lundquist garden is 5 acres of paradise, I mean there are very few palms that can't be grown there, and very few that haven't been tried!

But first, music!

You may recall that I showed a few pictures of the general 'hood of Leilani Estates, as I rode shotgun in the Bo-Mobile TM

We finally arrive, on an afternoon like none other and every other. I mean, it rains every day in Leilani Estates, or close (correct me) and so, well, water is not a problem. Catchment tanks, not water bills.

The gates swung open . . . .

And this is the first plant I photographed, a bitchen bromeliad!

Part of the gogginess of the trip was the fact that the Lundquist was, really, a huge undertaking. I mean five intensely planted acres, asphalt paving, and, well, for the Tsar and Tsarina their palace, it's like, "well, darling, do you know how much it costs to keep polishing those icons?"

Wow, that was quite an effort! I'm glad you had a good time seeing a few palms that afternoon in early January! :rolleyes: I'll do my best to add a few names:

#2 - Corypha umbraculifera

#3 - lots of stuff! Neoveitchia storckii (front), a few Veitchia arecina behind it as well as several Clinostigma samoense. The taller ones are Pigafetta elata.

#4 - correct, this one is a sister plant of the one in #2. Both are C. umbraculifera and both were planted at the same time.

#9 - Phoenicophorium borsigianum

#10 - center: Borassodendron machadonis

#11 - Pinanga coronata with LOTS of volunteer seedlings

#12 - taller ones (crown not visible), Clinostigma Hawaiian hybrid and LOTS of New Caledonia palms in the background.

#15 - second photo: C. Hawaiian hybrids

#17 - row of Neoveitchia storckii on the left, along the driveway

#18 - Clinostigma samoense. This is the parent plant of 95% of ALL C. samoense all over Leilani Estates (numbering around 400 or so)

#19 - first photo, palm with the large undivided fronds is another C. samoense. Stunted and slow growing because it's completely shaded. Second photo: L. grandis.

#23 - Calyptrocalyx elegans

#24 - the New Caledonia section with tall Chambeyronias, Burretiokentia hapala, vieillardii, koghiensis, various Kentiopsis, Actinokentia divericata and different Basselinias...you get the picture!

#26 - taller palms in the center are Areca catechu

#27 - tall palm in the center is actually a C. samoense. A few palms to the left are Pinanga caesia

#28 - I give up! :lol: Too much here but most of the taller ones are C. samoense

#29 - more of the same. The large palm in the foreground with the recurved fronds is of course a Carpoxylon macrospermum

#32 - Clinostigma ponapense, and a minor correction - this is not actually the area that's been named "Clinostigma cathedral" (didn't get to that yet).

#34 - Salacca magnifica
