Nice garden and I agree the cycads are awesome along with the cool palms.

I would love to see a closer shot of your Trachycarpus princeps.

I'm going to try one of those yellow flowering bananas this spring.

Love all the boulders in the landscaping.

Lookin good Randy! Dang, that Ficus is getting huge and it looks perfect!

What are the two parallel 4" x 6"s with the gravel in between? A walkway?

Palm crazy I will take a pic for you of T. princepts.

Matty your right. The 4" X 6" are nailers for the 5' long 2" X 6" that will be the walkway and lizard protector. I have the 4" X 6" boards an inch or so above grade to give the lizards a chance against the cats!

Also there is roofing matterial under the gravel to minimise weed problems. Also this serves as drainage or a swill if you will. Paul I don't know how to spell swill?

Hey Randy,

What size was your Beccariopheonix alfredii when you planted it, and when was it planted? Do you have any pictures of when you first planted it? I'm wanting to know how fast (or slow) these grow for us out here. I have some Beccariophoenix Madagascariensis (no windows) that have not done anything in 2 years and I'm thinking about replacing them with Alfredii, so I'm just trying to get an idea of their speed. Thanks!

Beautiful garden! Everything looks really clean...mine would be that way if I didn't have crazy dogs. Love the detail and the non palm photos as well! Do you water by drip? What soil mix did you use to fill in the raised planters?

Grateful to have what I have, Les amis de mes amis sont mes amis!

Jastin,

I used dirt for my raised planters. It's iron rich Corona soil. It has an orangeish color from the iron in it. I got 20 yards of it from a school remodel around the corner from my house.

I water this palm at least once a day. I flood this mound most every weekend too. It loves being in wet soil here in Corona, Ca.

It has a new leaf opening right now which should put it at 8' tall over all.

Palmsandbananas I have no idea what cactus it is, but it was expensive! It grows well and is about to flower!

The jaccuzzi that you see in the back ground has been bothering me for sometime now. The thing I don't like is there seems to be no way of having it look nice in the background of my pics!

Soooooooo... I took the sawsall to it a couple days ago! It took me less than an hours to have 5 pieces of fiberglass jaccuzzi ni the bed of my truck ready for the dump!

Removing it really opened up the views of my plants!

If you look closely at some of the pics you will see 4 footings for a gazebo.

post-1270-063006100 1330352203_thumb.jpg

This is what I am going to do with those footings. Mine will have two stories thou. Where the "roof joist" connect to the gazebo at 8" I will have a 12' X 12' observation deck. The 4" X 4" s will go up an additional 8" to support the "roof joist" . So the verticle 4" X 4"s will be 16 footers! All 16 of them.

I put an 8' ladder on the freshly exposed slab, then I climbed to the 8' level to check out my future views, I liked it alot.

These pics are what I took while up the ladder that you can see in the first pic.
