Well, it happened, and, well, I'm shocked but not surprised.

WH had been troubled by dope for a long while, and that kind of thing can shorten your life.

She made some great music in her time.

RIP dear

Ms Peachy

One year ago many here expressed concern for your well-being after the Queensland floods. There were no comments that what you suffered was retribution for past deeds, only offers of help came your way.

That post of yours today is a little ill-considered and seems out of character with your usual jovial comments.

You don't have to be a fan (I certainly wasn't) but if you can't say something nice best say nothing.

So sad to hear of her death.

In the height of her career I named my first pet after her.

Whitney may you both R.I.P.

So how did she die? I heard some reports but nothing about why/how she passed ?

Don't blame Whitney for that horrible song... blame Dolly Parton.

Never was a fan of her music at all (except for that national anthem performance at the superbowl) but it is sad that she is gone. RIP. She seemed like a classy lady. Unlike Beyonce gyrating in her leotard.... yuck.

Whitney did have an amazing voice.

That's the most out of line response I've ever seen here. Totally uncalled for.

Such a shame about Whitney. A tragic end to the tragic life of a special talent.

As for the song, Linda Ronstadt did the best version of I will always love you IMO...smilie.gif

WH was a HUGE MEGA STAR, as I hope we all know. Her voice was the greatest of all times. Yes we all know she was troubled, yet she will remain an undeniable musical legend, like it or not!!!!!

As for Peachy, I believe many out there feel the same way, but not put it to pen and paper for all to see. I heard the very same statement many times yesterday at a gathering of 141 persons. Did I feel bad YES, but on another level I understood. I loved that woman, because of her voice.

That response from Steve was just as ugly.

None of us are perfect. I LOVE you Peachy.

This is the Whitney Houston I remember, so upbeat, made me want to dance.

It just happened that her career started right about the time I came to California.

I still remember some of her early TV performances, and videos. No one could sing soaring sorrow quite like her.

I still have my tape of "The Bodyguard" with Kevin Costner. That Superbowl rendition of the National Anthem was great, too, even if she pre-recorded it. I've got it bookmarked on YouTube.

She got her divorce in the same OC courthouse I had a bunch of appearances in, though I never saw her. (I don't do family law.) Turns out she and I were very distant neighbors in the OC.

She sang like an angel, and couldn't manage her devils. So sad sad sad to hear.

Also, what Jeff mentioned about small children(I have one and one on the way...)this also makes you realize how dangerous bathtubs are!

So many speculations, so many sorrows ...

Well. I LOVED HER. Whitney, you and your unrivaled voice will be missed for ever. All the so called friends being active at twitter currently - where they have been in you sad times? WHERE?

We will never forget you, goddes of the soul. Farewell, my girl, and please do not stop singing in heaven.

I will always love you. This song I have heard 4 or 5 times a day at least since you have been passed.

I always find it amazing to see people that were delt one of nature's greatest hands (good looks, ultra great voice, talent, etc. -- and with a religous foundation to boot), only to squander it and destroy their lives by misusing drugs and alcohol. Whitney wasn't the first and she certainly won't be the last, human nature being what it is.
