Thanks William, Look at the behaviour of Pritchardia Munroi  hanging fronds and tons of fruit, is this normal growing behaviour of Munroi fellow Hawaiians? Pete

Oooo, nice place! I'm sighing over the beauty of that Metroxylon. This garden is not familiar to me -- is it public or private?

Hi Paul,

That is the oldest palm in my garden, Pritchardia munroi. Planted it as a seedling in 1990.

Hi Peter,

I don't know if my P. munroi is typical, or is behaving this way because it is growing in Hana, not West Maui or East Molokai. I did notice that the P. arecina tree I visit to collect seed in the wild also sports a skirt, though it is not as thick as this one. As far as pumping out seeds, my munroi has been constant since it put out its first bunch years ago.

Hi Kim,

Its my own garden, private. I'm working toward setting up tours some day. If you're ever in Hana, stop by, send me a PM ahead so I can arrange to be around.

Hey Colin,

Yeah, there's only a couple in the wild on East Molokai, but recently, they found a few in the West Maui Mountains. So now P. munroi is one of the species that is native to more than one of the Hawaiian islands.

Thanks Bill for posting the nice pics. Isn't the P. Munroi almost gone in the wild??
