This garden is now almost eight years old.Almost everything including most of the cocos I started from seed.It is a harsh climate with a long dry season.We have salt laden winds all year and my soil is almost pure sand.The biggest surprise for me has been how well the Sealing wax palms do in full hot dry sun.We do water everyday in the dry season and wash off the salt from the more delicate palms.

That's an amazing garden just in general, and especially considering your conditions - the dry season and your proximity to the ocean! :) Thanks for posting!

Your palms are gorgeous and the C. crinita is a personal favorite, it's just beautiful. I love the post and the pictures, they're just too few! You've done a great job Scott and to see your garden in person is a real treat. I can't wait to see your highland garden.

Peter I cannot wait for you to see my highland garden.It is so different in many ways /climate ,terrain and plant species.

Today was a spectacular day at the beach,bright clear blue skies,warm breezes.My highland garden was cloudy by noon ,fog and drizzle by three and rain now until midnight.It is wonderful to have such different gardens just an hour and fifteen minutes apart.

Thanks Don and Peachy.Yes Peachy I could use a caretaker and you even speak english! This is not my primary residence so I am not always there to see that everything is watered and cared for properly.One gardener carefully removed the PVC stakes I used to identify three five year old Copernicia macroglossa seedings that had been in the ground for two years.He then proceeded to mow them down with the lawn mower.He said they looked like weeds!
