Hello,

I want to ship a palm to a cousin in Florida. I live in California. First of all, can I do this? I believe it is legal to ship plants within the continental U.S. 48 without needing to get a phytosanitary certificate. Am I correct?

Secondly, with regards to the medium used to wrap the roots: Must I use spaghnum moss or is there another sterile medium that I can use?

If I must use spaghnum moss, does anyone have any good recommendations for where it can be purchased at a reasonable price?

Thank you,

Joel

Maybe this will help.

What size is the plant you are shipping? You can get spaghnum moss at any local Home Depot or Lowes.

Thanks Erik

I hate to flaunt my ignorance but is there a difference between spaghnum moss and peat moss? I say this because the peat moss I have bought from the big box storrs also says spaghnum on the bag for the translation in what I think is French.

Thanks!
