I've ordered a couple of Palms and would love some feedback about the best way to care for them since I'm still fairly new to growing Palms long-term. They are all seedling size, and some I'm quite excited about, and would love to hear your experiences with them, if you have any.

Two or three of them are Stilt Palms, which I couldn't resist - I just love the funky look of those roots! Any advice or photos of older ones would be great.

Iguanura wallichiana

Iriartea deltoidea

Licuala grandis

Marojejya darlanii

Phoenix zeylanica

Socratea rostrata

Acoelorraphe wrightii

Dypsis pinnatifrons

Wow that Iguanura is cool. I'd be interested to know more about that one.

Some of those puppies are potentially 'large' palms and seeing that you're in Ma. I'm not sure about their long term prognosis in pots.

The Iguanura and Licuala should do well in pots though.

All those palms can take winters in MA--good choices!

For the most part, classy palms though... better have some serious humidity for those stilt rooters!

HAHA! Good one :) Yes, Just a little hay over the base and they'll be fine!

Tell me more about the stilts and their wants, please!

When small, their need for light is not so great, but humidity is your main need--it helps the roots to develope. The thicker the air, the better! They dry out and they die. Same for the Marojejya.

Thanks a bunch! Jude

Should I sit them in a pot, in a 1 inch deep tray, full of water, so they never dry out ?

How big do those stilt palms need to be before they start forming their stilt roots? Would a potted specimen start to grow them? Has anybody ever seen a conservatory palm with stilt roots?
