Dug out a big clump of the Costus to plant elsewhere .

It would have grown right into these plants in another season .

Cut off many old and excessive stems .

Well spotted Wal , and its a Cyrtosperma cuspidispathum

that will grow much bigger than macrotum . They are planted fairly close to the Areca .

Only a few meters away is the big Caryota no with its second new leaf since Yasi , it should shade all this area for future plantings .

Back to this spot today . A bit of trunk and some stilts .

It could very well be vestiaria, but it seems to be remaining solitary .

Must get some 'vestis' to plant nearby and compare .

Michael, I "withdraw my comment back in june", its certainly not a Vestiaria. :) Pete

Pete, Michael, is this a valid name? I searched on Kew and there is no such name is in the database. Hmmm, looks like a variation of A. vestiaria.
