Hi all,

Currently in Jakarta, Indonesia. Saw this Phoenix near my hotel and went back for my camera while the sun was still out. This Phoenix was so blue, when looking at it close up.

Pic 1: Overall shot of the tree.

Well grown, and blue Phoenix sylvestris, like these here are my favorite Phoenix palms.

Indeed it looks like a sylvestris.

Aside from the color, other tell-tale IDs are: Plumose leaves, single trunk.

They're rarer over here than they should be.

Nice large healthy sylvestris. Getting rarer to see these in cities here though

Those are some really blue sylvestris.

And great looking specimens.

I have two small (1ft) P. pusilla (or so the seeds were sold to me as) and one is appearing really blue.

Most pics I have seen of them do not appear blue.

I will post a pic.

Although very lovely blue, that's still teasing Michael, when do we see the real tropicals ?

Here are some pics of the bluish P. pusilla I promised.

It's a Phoeinx and who knows what it genetically truly is.

The other one I have is more green and can be seen in the top photo upper left in 15g.

For reference, palms to the right are P. sylvestris, although there has been some obvious variance in that lot of plants.

Here's real nice looking blue Phoenix in the neighborhood. Looks like P. sylvestris as far as I can tell.
