Thanks JD! I guessed Ceroxylon because of the trunk, but I wasn't sure since I don't have any experience growing them. I think I found a new favorite palm!

This tree was labeled as Ficus imbricata. It was a beautiful tree, but messy. Those huge leaves were laying all over the ground. I imagine they would suffocate any plants growing underneath.

Bob and Catharine were friends of my parents. They were very kind and extremely knowledgeable about tropical plants. The garden was seemed very different in the 70's when I was there. I am delighted to see the care that is obviously being given to it. I will have to dig out the photo slides.

That's about all of the photos of Wilson Garden worth posting. Ben (one of our members) knew of a nursery close to Wilson so we followed him there after we checked out of our cabina on Sunday. What a treasure this place is! The owner's name is Don Jorge and he has plants and palms all over the place.

First, on the way to Don Jorge's we passed this church with two Corypha out front.

Thanks Patricia. I was thinking of you when we were at Don Jorge's. He had so many plants and palms to choose from... and his prices were the best! We made another stop near Rio Claro and visited another beautiful garden on the way home. I haven't posted those photos yet.
