why do folks buy a new car and then leave on the ugly dealer license plate frame ?

they look bad to me with the neon writing and the dealer phone number.

(the dealers must love it.

buy a car from me and then drive it around for years with my billboard on it.)

LOL!

Yeah, we love it.

Only about 10% of owners actually remove unobtrusive advertisements from their autos (Just ask a certain large Lexus conglomerate down here). TYVM! :mrlooney:

Naturally the uglier the ad is, the more often it get's removed... I used to put yellow and purple stickers on cars and always be amazed when I would see em driven around town. I've since graduated to wholesaling my cars and don't bother with any of it. B)

I've told the guys at dealerships I want $50,000 per year to leave them on. That's what it cost in 1983 for a 2"x6" sticker on the Indy car I worked on that year. I think for a person with a car reputation like mine, that's a fair price. They always give me a stunned look with a "Huh? You don't want our frame?" $50K would change my mind. Nobody has paid and I have never kept a frame on, but I've made some people take them off my car.

I have the dealer remove them. I won't buy a car with dealer advertising on it. I walked away from a really good deal because he refused to remove his sticker.

Oh yeah, btw, I take all that crap off my vehicles too. I usually go so far as to remove factory labeling. 50k would probably persuade me as well! :winkie:

I strip almost all the factory emblems & lettering. Less to wax around! :D I don't even advertise for the manufacturer.

Its odd - I very often find myself thinking the exact same thought - why do people do it? New cars here often have the dealer's details frosted on their rear window, or on a very hard to remove sticker and the overwhelming majority of owners dont seem to care. I just bought my parents a volkswagen (they got their delivery today) and I hope its not the same!!!

I removed everything but the palm from my dealer's sticker.

Buying a car from certain dealers can be a bit of a status symbol. Maybe Braman in West Palm Beach. Lush facilities, even if they're located on a rotting old stretch of Okeechobee Blvd.
