Hello Everyone,

I will be going for to Pataya in Thailand for three days in February. Can anyone recommend some botanical sights in the vicinity that I should tey to see, and whether there are any particular palms I should look out for and try to acquire if possible? Will it be expensive? Should it be seed or sedlings? Are these sold and if so, how difficult is it to bring them back by air?

(PS - Dean, It seemed to me that it was ok to start this on this forum, - please move it if necessary.)

Kumar,

I assume you know that Nong Nooch Tropical Botanical Garden is very close to Pattaya? You should definitely go there. But I don't know anything about seeds or seedlings and what you may and may not be able to bring back with you.

Dear Kumar

Nice to hear you are visiting thailand. And i insist you speak to Komikrit our forum member from Thailand. His user ID is Kom Thai Palm.He is a very friendly youngster and today is his birthday. He could visit our forum. So PM him if you need any travel guidance or Garden tours.Since he is a professional grower of Thailand.

And as Dear Bo Goran has said do not miss the oppurtunity to visit the Nong Nooch Tropical Botanical Garden. There if you find the double coconut palm take lots of stills of it...:D

And there is a area where vendors sell exotic plants as we have our local fruit market. If you have a local or Komikrit by your side.i think you can buy and even air-mail it to your house.

Verigated palms, verigated catus, yuccas, agaves, plumerias and rare Bogainvillas are very popular there...

Wish you a happy journey and happy plants shopping. :greenthumb:

Love,

kris :)

Don't buy any Johanesteijmania seedlings, their roots are very sensetive and will most likely die if you bare root them (or even disturb a lot of their soil). Seeds will be much much better for that Genera of palms
