I have a gallon of liquid fertilizer and about 20 is crystallized. You can still shake it up and crystals will disperse, but the will not go back into solution, at least not from shaking.

What caused it, is it still usable, and how are the nutrient values affected?

Maybe by adding some water they may disolve, they are mineral salts that are falling out of solution and bonding. For in ground plants should not be a problem. I would not use on containerized palms as a precaution. I am not a chemist, just my opinion.

Usually when I see crystaliztion, its because I used cold water to mix with the fert and it takes awhile longer (a few hrs) for the crystals to dissolve all the way. Or some moisture has gotten in the bag and hardened and again-it takes a few hrs to dissolve. If the solution was outside and the water is cold, bring it inside and let the water warm up and see if that changes things. I don't think that you will hurt the plants with it. You could always filter out the crystals, but the proportions of fert to water were ok (I am assuming) when you mixed it up, so it is not going to be different now.

Can you set it out in the sun and heat it up? Or add some boiling water, that'll do it.
