I do some experiments and learning in my garden with palms so you don't have to experience the pain! Look at my old threads to find various observations and tips!

I'll snap another picture of mine I went ahead and planted mine out in fall I know that is not a great idea specially in my climate but i I figured if it makes it great if not I know this plant isn't for me . It was obviously greenhouse grown in Hawaii which was also a reason not

to plant it out yet . Most of the stretched fronds died off from the cold but it still pushed through winter and opened up new spear the new spear got a little toasted on the end from the sun in the last couple weeks . But overall it did pretty good considering .

Newest leaf looks pretty darn good . Need to throw a little shade over it though

This week I have had a high of 97 with dry Santa Ana's yesterday which did not affect the plant .I got a couple new things this week. All pretty descent size 5 gallon plants gonna get them planted out this week I hope . Dypsis bejouf , dypsis basilonga dypsis carlsmithii and a nice foxy lady .

My Dypsis malcomberi, seeds acquired from RPS in July 2007 under this name, resembles the one showed early in this thread by Jerry Anderson. The one in my photo was planted out in April 2014 and has grown well since then. Earlier, it had regular leaves with wide leaflets. As it grows, it is beginning to show some ranking in the leaflets, and could come to look like some of the habitat shots I have seen. My palm, 5-gal orange bucket for scale:

Here are a couple of habitat shots, which I believe were tyaken by Jeff Marcus. Hope he won't mind my posting them:

Definitely a cool Dypsis, but not the malcomberi mentioned here..
