HAPPY NEW YEAR to all of you!

Well last year was almost 3 times wetter than 2009, but still about 7" below average. Check out the link below.

We had 8" of rain between 12mid and 12 mid yesterday. Most of it after 6 pm. Lower garden was under water, soom potted adenium washed away or burried under debris. Video clips later after I edit them.

How did the rest of you "Hawaiians" do?

Feeling bad for all of the Aussies under water. Mine is nothing like what they have down there.

Wow Steve, that sounds like Hilo rain. We didn't get a drop yesterday, but lower Puna got over 3". The storms of the last few weeks have pretty much missed us.

8" would probably float Southern California out to sea.

Steve,

Very interesting and apart from the total numbers a very different "trend" to what we have experienced here in lower Puna. 2003 was our driest year (up till last year), followed by the wettest year, 2004. 2009 was the second wettest year, followed by our driest year, 2010. See below:

2003: 100.60 inches

2004: 172.46 inches

2009: 162.91 inches

2010: 87.64 inches

2010 - pretty pathetic!

It did float two "bridges" across the normally dry stream away. Both made of 10' long 2" X 12" boards sitting on cement blocks.

Also floated a number of potted plants off the table at the deep end.
