So I'm using an ultrasonic humidifier to keep the room's humidity level higher for my Adonidia.  The mist from the unit is blowing right onto the palm.  Is this OK or will it be too much?  Here's a picture of it.

Thanks.

You don't want  the mist blowing right on the palm.   I have humidifier in my basement palm room and its in one corner of the room and the palms in the other.  I use a fan on low to move the air around.    You also don't want the air too saturated with moisture.   I run my humidifier twice a week for 10-12 hours at a time with very good results.  Of course this all depends on how dry your air is and runs times adjusted when the furnace runs constatntly.  Good luck.

Thanks.  I moved the palm about 5 feet away and I'm keeping the humidity level between 40-50%.

I found with my ultrasonic humidifier that unless you have it very near the palm it makes little to no difference.  I've actually stopped using mine and switched to mains fed nozzles, which do the job, but are a little impracticle indoors.  If you have a warm mist option on yours, it shouldn't be a problem to have it fairly close, just make sure that it is far enough for the water to atomise before it gets the opportunity to condense on the plant.

I'm actually having pretty good luck so far with mine.  I thought I was going to have to run it continuously, at least on low, but I had to shut it off completely today because it was getting too humid in the room and I have a cathedral ceiling.

Humidifiers can sound death knell for highly

sophicisticated electronics like T.V,hi fi stereos,

microwave owen,Mobile phones etc.so watch out

where your palm & that mist engine are gona be.

hey is it spraying just mistified water or is mist output

is it heated too ?

here for us the air & moisture level is quite high as iam

living near the sea shore & the climate is wet tropical_

zone is 9plus throught the year.

our airconditioners send out large quantities of water from

the vent pipe,so horrible is the humidity levels here in

madras.

Hey Kris...There is your free distilled water!!   But maybe you get plenty of rain.

Zone 10a at best after 2007 AND 2013, on SW facing hill, 1 1/2 miles from coast in Oceanside, CA. 30-98 degrees, and 45-80deg. about 95% of the time.

I wonder about the ultrasonic humidifiers in areas with mineralized water (like most of Jacksonville, where the deep well water is excellent for drinking, but laden with calcium).

Fla. climate center: 100-119 days>85 F

Kris, it is a cool mist humidifire so no warm water.

Dave-Vero, you basically have to clean the unit after so many tank fillings for calcium, mildew, etc.  Luckily right now I haven't had to use it for a few days.

Thank you for all the tips on growing palm trees. I have a lady at Lowes home store where I work. She is also helping me. I just bought a humidifier for my palm. My other one died. Thank you again! Charlie
