Bromeliads Galore

Last Saturday I and my oh-so-patient husband trekked over to Terry Park in Ft. Myers for the annual bromeliad sale. In the past year I've developed great affection for genus Cryptanthus. Okay, they aren't flashy with knock-your-eyeballs-out neon color but they are interesting, compact and often prolific. I planted clones of last year's purchases beneath our lemon trees in the back yard where they lurk happily in the mulch. Most of my purchases this year were also Cryptanthus but I branched out into some ferocious Dyckia and Orthophytum along with a few other types. Yesterday I took photos which started out in sunshine but as the latest accursed cold front approached, conditions got cloudier, darker, then rainy so not all photos turned out well. Also, I couldn't make out handwriting on all the tags, so correct my spelling.

Nice scores, Meg. I've been to that sale once. Every year it seems we have 10 things to do the weekend it occurs!

x Neophytum Burgundy Hill. The photos came out really dark because of rain but this plant is absolutely gorgeous.
