Crazy tree! It looks nice for a double though, sometimes they look weird.

Kailua, Oahu HI. Near the beach but dry!

Still have a garden in Zone 9a Inland North Central Florida (Ocala)

Can I have it split in 2 for $12,500? That's ridiculous.

Coastal San Diego, California

Dry summer subtropical/Mediterranean

warm summer/mild winter

never mind the price,I like this palm!

small problem I not have all this money to buy it :D

Another problem, in the transplant the palm may die ?

yes That's ridiculous.

Reasonable price if you want a double headed Butia. I have seen them sell for usd $30,000 in the past.

Hard to believe anyone would pay even a fraction of that. Look at all the grief guys selling $5.00 palm trees around here get.

Guy needs to lay off the crack.

It looks like it will split in two someday if not supported.

Hot and dry in the summer, cold with light frost in the winter. Halfway between the desert and ocean

That's the problem I had with my buttia, I've got a big crack in it now.

Absolutely no insinuations here, but many years ago our late great member Warren Dolby and I purchased a very similar double headed butia (a bit shorter at that time) from a SE Bay nursery for planting in a new palm project in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. Somewhere in shipment to the park it disappeared, although I heard years later a rumor that it had been spotted and that it had gone to the wrong nursery in the park and finally did get planted somewhere else in the park in an out-of-the way place. My main point is that as I remember it was in a 48 inch box, and the cost was about $40. Even with inflation I can't imagine the EBay palm will ever sell at the advertised price.

PASS!

You've gotta be kidding me with that price!

Come on, people, still 31 minutes left as I look at it now and still no bids. This is a real opportunity.....

One of only a DOZEN in the whole United States!

:D :D :D:huh:

Solid zone 9, I can expect at least one night in the mid to low twenties every year.

Hot, dry summers. Cold, wet winters.

Even with inflation I can't imagine the EBay palm will ever sell at the advertised price.

There's always a buyer for any good, isn't there ? The very fact that someone has put up an asking price of USD 25 thousand proves that he expects bids in that region. Unless he has plenty of time to waste or is playing a prank.

I suppose once one reaches a level of affluence, all these prices cease to have meaning.

Deceptive. It looks like e-bay puts down the "buy it now" price. If you go for details, it shows it had 0 bids.

So, its still available!

Zone 10a at best after 2007 AND 2013, on SW facing hill, 1 1/2 miles from coast in Oceanside, CA. 30-98 degrees, and 45-80deg. about 95% of the time.

I do some experiments and learning in my garden with palms so you don't have to experience the pain! Look at my old threads to find various observations and tips!

It will be "available" for quite a long time. Like forever.

Dear Randy :)

Thanks for those nice visuals....I like it ! And by the way the term E-Bay reminds me of the movie Transformers,Where the Autobots keeps saying this 'E-bay term' now & them.i.e

pronouncing it in a Robotic fashion !

Lots of love,

kris :)

love conquers all..

Yeah, palms (at least in this part of the country), even rare and unique ones such as this Butia, just aren't going to fetch that kind of price, especially in this economy. I think around $5000 would be more reasonable, and it might actually sell at that price.
