its when someone thinks they are being cute by saying something stupid.

it comes from not having anything of any real merit to add, and yet not wanting to be left out of the discussion

Good question. Here is what I think would be examples:

"cornball" - "A Preist, a Rabi and a Red Palm Weevil are in a bar. The Preist says......."

"knuckleheaded" - "Is one of dem red palm weebles cazing El nino?"

Would these be good examples Rob?

Why would you post this in all seriousness, and then invite the demise of your own thread? Either you are genuinely concerned, or perhaps you just wanted to "steal the thunder" from the current topic? rock.gif

here is the truth

its an important subject.

if the bug spreads it could wipe out 1000s of palms in my area.

on the other hand I know that you can have an important topic and a few clowns will

try to turn the thing into a circus by posting a cornball thread

then just like that -the whole thing goes down the crapper

one lame brain wreaks the whole thread

Yeah, because the other thread that has expert witnesses and people that are actually living the nightmare and commenting about it, that thread is not a good idea to continue adding stuff like this too. :hmm:

Well, the important topics never usually begin with knucklehead or cornball warnings, or follow up with sarcasm.

Dave, I think a sticky would be like hanging a poster of the grim reaper in a funeral parlour. It might get to a few people after a while. We know the situation, and I think the best we can do is keep the main topic up to date. It's too late for compiling dossiers IMO. Hopefully, the authorities will read the comments and maybe even interact.

I considered, and still am considering, making a sticky.

However:

- I was waiting to find out the extent of the Laguna discovery.

- What warrants a sticky now for SoCal when So. Europe has been suffering for years, without a sticky?

- And you would be surprised how many people miss the stickies. A lively topic is viewed much more often.

So, a sticky is on hold. If it proves to be a consistently lively and informative topic then we'll see. It certainly has the potential.

Thanks to those of you who help make this a fun and friendly forum.
