I am thinking about adding a L. rupicola to our garden but haven't found much info on them. Would any of you who had one back in the September 2008 thread (or acquired one since) please share your photos and results? All I have found online is that they like acidic soil and, unlike Hilo, Kona has more neutral soil. How are they doing in your area? Anyone know mature height & width?

I have one... just found it among my 'common' stuff... A mixed up in my part. Just repotted it and it is still growing well in the shadehouse...

The one we were growing here died after last years frigid winter. I don't think it was the overall low of 29F that killed it but the duration of cool/cold afterwards. It didn't show damage for awhile but then slowly started declining. I have since replanted another.

Very sweet little guy! How long has he been in the ground and did you plant him from 5 gal? Do you think I would have to acidify our soil for him?

It was planted in September 2003 from a 4 inch pot. In other words, tiny. I would call them moderately fast. Sorry, no clue about the soil requirements!
