Big day at the Mana today, I got into the new bed, it had time to settle the new soil I added a couple of weeks ago, been some rains around, so I went in.

Firstly here's how she looked before the planting attack.

That sawed off lemon scented tea tree was given the heave ho due to future palm planning, what can I say ?

So, 12 palms all up went in, one cordyline, one croton, one ponytail and 5 new guinea impatiens.

The Areca vestiaria plantings included three orange and two maroon, most of them already clumping, especially the bigger orange job, a transplant from Jackson's Jungle. The one still in the pot at the back is earmarked for ratpacker Mike who shall remain nameless.

I want more time to consider the Cocos nucifera position, more heat and some sand.

And here's the interesting base on the onilahensis, also a lovely clumping palm, one of the daintiest Dypsis of them all.

Maybe Troy and thanks, I tell you what though, it's the early planting days of now and the first couple of years of growing after planting I like the best. Once the plants get up there after about 5 years, it's great of course, wonderful, but the innocent expectations are gone, the early morphalogical changes are complete and the hopes are usually fulfilled.

The palms reach that stage where they will not look any different apart from getting taller/larger.

What am I saying ? I think I'm saying I love plant outs and wish I could start a new palmscape every 5 years or so. I may get one more, but I am starting to doubt it.

Plant 'em young for shape and form. :)

Nothing more exciting than putting together a new garden bed, is there? Next best thing is watching it grow.
