i have a nice little robust Areca vestiara 'maroon form' that is about 4foot high to the top leaflet. i was wandering what size i can be certain this is going to be solitary or clumping? it is showing no signs of clumping so far. Also it looks like a flower spathe appearing behind the bottom frond. isnt this guy a little small to be flowering?

cheers

Mine is about 1 m high (I am a metric girl, I don't do imperial measurement very well) and they are already clumping. It think they start clumping very early...

Harry, I reckon if it hasn't clumped by now, it will probably stay single. I saw a shadehouse full of these recently. They were all in 100 litre bags...single trunked and as red as they come...what a sight!
