Hi

I have some fresh Cyrtostachys renda / Lipstick / Sealing Wax Palm seeds. I do not want to plant them all right now, but would like to have the option in future. What is the best way to store them? Is it even possible?

They are very fresh - still damp.

Thanks :)

Unfortunately your plans will need to be altered. huh.gif

Cyrtostachys renda seed does not have a long viability period.

Sow them while they are fresh. smilie.gif

I agree with Ron. I've tried dozens of Cyrtostachys seeds in the past 2.5 years. Only one - 1! - germinated for me. I won't mess with seeds again.

Yes, not many seeds germinate, even right off the tree. I have a mature clump that puts out hundreds of seeds each year. I grab hands full of seed and place them in a pot of soil each time I get to it. Only a few seedling come up each time. And they are really slow growing at first. Easier to carefully sever sucklings from the clump to get a growing specimen. Or purchase seedlings.:(

OK, sounds like there's no harm in bunging the whole lot of them in a pot right now, as I'm unlikely to end up overrun by palms!

Thanks peeps. I will report back in due course...if I remember. :)
