My two favorites:

If Opera can be considered, Bizet's Carmen has to be one of the best ever written.

Thank you for your post Junglegalfla. I love Willie Nelson's version of this song. :)

Please take a gander at the attached YouTube. I really like Lyle Lovett and Al Green's rendition of that same title. :)

Enjoy,

Awesome, Bill! Shame the presenter is such a letch. I was a big fan of Elvis Costello as a kid, but never followed his rise to acclaim. Once got in trouble for singing "Oliver's Army" when I was supposed to be getting ready for bed. I knew all the words too!

Once upon a time they actually had a thing called "World Idol" where all the winners from different countries that had an "Idol Franchises" competed. Kurt Nilsen won that unanimously, edging out Kelly Clarkson.

He's got an amazing voice but doesn't look commercial. Simon Cowel said he looked like Troll.

He's the 4th singer in this version of Halleluja-- the pale and pasty, gap toothed red head.

THis is also my favorite version of this song.

Kurt Nilsen has an incredible voice. I swear if he would stick to country he would be huge here in the States. Duet w/ Willie Nelson - Lost Highway

This is a jazz classic - Johnny Hartman singing Lush Life (bonus - w/ John Coltrane). For those unfamiliar with this jazz standard, it was written by Billy Strayhorn when he was only 16 years old(!). (Strayhorn collaborated with Duke Ellington for 3 decades, and wrote, among others, "Take the A Train.")

Hope you enjoy.

I have so many favorite vocals from so many powerful, and so many tender singers. But one song stands out because of the sheer simplicity and clarity of the presentation: Elton John's "Your Song"... As I turn 40 today and my mom celebrates a birthday tomorrow (Thursday), I dedicate this song to her. Happy Birthday Mom!

Next week I am performing for the first time since my surgery, and I am going to do this song.....firstly because I still cant sing, and secondly because I just love the lyrics and they are quite appropriate for my situation. Hope you like it as much as I do.
