Many of you visited last summer, apparently to good reviews. I'm hoping even more of you can make it this year. The garden is a little behind where it should be (e.g. the Spathodeas and heliconias are behind on their blooms), but it still looks pretty nice. You can check out the new Jubaea, the driveway lined with Roystoneas, the front garden full of Chambeyronias, all the Bamboo, Proteas, Flowering Trees, etc.

There will also be a big BBQ, the famous (infamous?) blue punch, the Shiznit, music, TV, perhaps some drunken lawn bowling, good times all around.

My address is 1789 Hartwright Road, Vista, CA 92084. Just swing by any time after 2pm on Saturday the 28th. Hope to see you all there!

?Snag? = translation please. I could guess, but would rather not.

Wishing you a good and fun California experience! You should make a Hawaii Island stop on your way back to Australia. After all it's on the route back.

Hawaii Island (Big Island), leeward coast, 19 degrees N. latitude, south Kona mauka at approx. 380m (1,250 ft.) and about 1.6 km (1-mile) upslope from ocean.

No record of a hurricane passing over this island (yet!).

Summer maximum rainfall - variable averaging 900-1150mm (35-45") - Perfect drainage on black volcanic rocky soil.

Nice sunsets!

There will be lots of snags, and lots of alcohol - we'll try to avoid any technicolor yawns.

I do some experiments and learning in my garden with palms so you don't have to experience the pain! Look at my old threads to find various observations and tips!

Alright party people, just two days away. If you could, please send me a PM (or reply to this message) with an RSVP, so I can get the appropriate amount of food and drink. If you're a maybe, just respond with a 1/2.

See you all on Saturday!

Glad I saw a remark about this today. I remembered it is the 28th....

But for some reason it stuck in my head as Sunday. :(
