Len's garden is well... there are quite a few superlatives to discribe how cool it is! It's a mini vacation spot to relax and let the time drift by with a favoite cocktail!

I hate to think what some of the water bill are like in summer thou. Also what is the large leaf butia hybrid I saw on Justin website?

Urban Rainforest Palms,Cycads and Exotics. Were in San Diego Ca. about 5 miles from the beach on Tecolote canyon. It seems to be an ideal growing climate with moderate temps. and very little frost. Vacation Rental in Leilani Estates, big island Hi PM me if interested in staying there.

Great pics of a wonderful palm journey.... that last panoramic pic of Len's is amazing! Fantastic chamerhops by the pool and what a backdrop!

So Randy a non-palm question for you... what vehicle were you driving on this journey that has 295,000 miles on it??? Jv

Zone 10a at best after 2007 AND 2013, on SW facing hill, 1 1/2 miles from coast in Oceanside, CA. 30-98 degrees, and 45-80deg. about 95% of the time.

I do some experiments and learning in my garden with palms so you don't have to experience the pain! Look at my old threads to find various observations and tips!

The truck is a 1998 diesel Dodge Ram 1 ton pickup. It got 18 mpg during the trip at 75 mph. For you metric people that's excellent fuel economybiggrin.gif !

I want to thank all of the gardeners that took thier time to show me thier work! Every single garden I went to was different. The hard scapes were well thought out and alot of labor was required! I was inspired to build an observation deck(thanks Calvin)! It was cool to see some very rare and hot looking palm trees! Some of the gardens I went to are quite large! I went to 4 places on saturday and 5 on sunday. It was tiring in a good way. With a few of us there was an exchange of plants! When I do this again I will only have three destinations each direction. Also i will take pics of saturday nights festivaties in the harbor!laugh.gif
