I was browsing through Google Images at Palm Trees in Wisconsin and on a page, I saw a picture of 2 spindle palms. I clicked it, and it went to Tripadvisor. There they were, palms in front of Lake Michigan! Here are some pics from Panaromio

Completely real. They have been doing that for a while. They plant them before summer and dig them before the first frost. Most of what they plant are coconuts.

Go ahead and look, but I strongly doubt those will ever set any nuts.

You'll need to go to Florida or Hawaii for that . . . .

I saw them last Sept., coconuts, Washingtonia, etc. They store them in winter and replant in summer. Its totally real and totally bizzare to see coconuts on a Chicago beach. I will get photos this year.

I recall BobbyinNY posting photos of palms in New York, so I knew this was genuine. Not only a great idea for brightening up the area, but when people think, "I didn't think it was possible.. (etc.)" it's got to make you feel that someone cares enough about the community to go the extra mile.

I took these last summer - they are real:

I was back in Chicago last week, and looked to see if they had been planted out for the summer - nope, not yet.

Well I'd send you one but there are no ripe or unripe coconuts in FL after this winter, they all dropped.

Talking about Bobby in N.Y. What happened to him?

Yeah, I thought at one point he was setting up a New York palm chapter? Or perhaps moving to Florida? Quite a charismatic guy by all accounts.
