Thanks, Matt. I was hoping to get the gags out of the way early on, because I find this audio recording very compelling. biggrin.gif

I couldn't get it to play so I thought it was a joke. I'll try again, but if I hear a fart you'r name is mud.

Maybe you have Flash disabled? I tried it on a couple of browsers and it works ok. I wanted to embed the video as Bill did with his commercial, but the BB code didn't work for me.sad.gif

Are you messing Dave, or did the video play for you? I want to know how Bill was able to embed his video link. It should be easy, according to the help section.

I'm late for bed, so goodnight all, and don't have nightmares! Here's an additional, YouTube link. This video doesn't have the scrolling info at the start:

I got a blank screen that said "done" in the lower left hand corner. No sound. No video.

Thanks Bill. Other than using the "media" tags, I can't see why it didn't load for me. I even copied the code example from the help section. I think you must have special privileges.

I hope you all find it fascinating after the tears of laughter and joy have long faded into the silent abyss. Thank you for listening.

Dear friends :)

Nice links, but iam not in a postion to believe what the scientist say..I assume its no air zone or almost like vaccum in outer space, and if that is the case how can a microphone(telescopic or satallite based)receive any signal.

Millions of dollars are spent in search of new lands with living beings,But star treak has given all these sounds to us before,So these guys have just copied those sounds and have given it to us in form of youtube presentations..

Hope that some day our scientists & politicians instead of listining to sounds from distinct planets,If they spend some funds to save the forest of the world would be more useful.

Love,

Kris, I believe the sound is derived from electromagnetic fields, converting the interference into electric signals which were amplified. It is not a conventional acoustic recording, in that respect. As politics is not debatable here, I won't follow up your last comment, but it would be nice to think that there are advanced lifeforms out in space!

Uranus is the only planet whose name is taken from a figure in Greek mythology as opposed to Roman mythology.

The element uranium was named in recognition of Uranus, having being discovered around the same time that the planet changed from it's original name, "Georgium Sidus".

Interesting, n'est-ce pas?
