I had to go out to Marine Core Air Staion, Yuma, Arizona for an install. It's about a 3 hour drive due east of San Diego. Here's some pics of the long day.

I left the office at 6:00am to get an early start to make sure I could get all the work done in one day. Here's the sun rising over the local San Diego mountains.

Here's the new Child Development Center we're working on. I just installed the building sign.

As some of you know, we're a signage contractor. Here's one of the typical Room I.D. signs, ADA w/ braille and changeable insert.

I finished early and decided to drive home instead of stay in a hotel. But first I took some pics of the landscaping around base.

Back in California I hit the dunes @ Glamis. These dunes are amazing.

Flat, hot, and dry, just like Paul's mom.

The high temp in Yuma was 82F. When I got back to San Diego it was 87F. This is due to the effect of downslope warming during a mild santa ana.

The end!!!!!!

I like #4 shot 4 - it could pass as an album cover "in a Pink Floyd kind of way". Very interesting views that I never saw before. Thanks Matt.

Why is that water open in such a hot, dry place? I'll bet they lost a lot of water just from evaporation, so why isn't it run through pipes?

That's the way it's been done since they built the aquaduct. Aren't some portions not even concrete lined? I assume it's due to cost. The size and many hundreds of miles of pipe needed would be an incredibly large $ amount.

Great pictures!

(It's hot, here, too.)

I've been through the desert on a horse with no name . . .

Yeah, those dunes blow the mind, the way they just sort of come out of nowhere. Hard to believe that Glamis was named after a place in SCOTLAND . . . (Or so I hear . . . .)

Yuma is an interesting area.I know they grow alot of ficus and I am sure a broad number of Palms. There major issue is dealing with intense heat.I remember seeing those Dunes(Johnny Yuma).By the way, you make great signs! It is incredible to know the large amount of water that flows deep under the arid desert out West. Thank you for the great trip!
