fertilizer snafu

Featured Replies

Through gross negligence I managed to get a 50 pound bag of Best Palm Plus (used to be Apex I think) totally wet in the most recent rains.

Is it still usable after it dries out? Anyone know?

I have a leak in the roof of my shed and it was dripping right into a bag of fertilizer. It's all wet, just like yours. I'm sure it's perfectly fine. That Palm Plus is a slow release so it's still got a lot of juice left in it.

Thanks Matt. Actually I have standing water in the top of the bag. Over the years I've been kind of a fertilizer 'wuss fearing I'll kill my precious babies

with too much nourishment, and perhaps turning them into anorexics as a consequence. I'm just curios what the slurry at the top of the bag is composed of and wht the resultant residual will be. I hate the thought of losing over 40 lbs of fert.

By the way it was nice meeting you at Steves Sat before last.

Burt:

I think the fert will be okay, I've wet more bags than pants . . .

That said, your instinct to go easy is also good, though Apex Palm Plus is the one to use if you must.
