I chose archontophoenix purpurea & hope to plant one some day. I have a trio of cunningham but they switch back and forth from purple to white inflorescences so maybe they are alexandrae.

I’m a sucker for a white glaucous backside; I like them all but if I have to choose just one than Archontophoenix tuckeri floats my boat.

Last year this poll was done I chose Archontophoenix myolensis. But I have now switched to Archontophoenix purpurea.

unpopular ? where is that mentioned ? this is a poll from within Archontophoenix only. Suggest you do another poll of favorite pinnate palms, add about 25 to the list including A.cunninghamiana and see how she goes there ?

I agree with you that A maxima is a real impressive Archontophoenix. I love them. But I voted purpurea because of the colour. I actually love them all. Any well grown Archie is amazing to look at IMO.

How long did it take them to reach that height from germination?

I voted purpurea, but it was a hard choice between it and myolensis. I'm actually surprised that myolensis wasn't a closer second.

Yeah, Myolensis is the most rare Archontophoenix, i'm surprised its not as popular as Purpurea.

A myolensis is a beautiful palm, but doesn't really stand out from the pack as much as A purpurea. If you were to put the odd myolensis in with a bunch of alexandrae, most people would just call them alexandrae. They do have that nice drooping leaf tip which is really nice though. A myolensis is exceedingly rare, only existing on a small patch of the Barron River and the odd tributary and of course on the creek you cross on the way to Myola, where most pics of this palm have been taken from. Us Aussies should be growing this palm to keep it from extinction.

I'm with Tyrone, no other A. stands out like a purpurea

This public planting was my motivation to plant a few in my yard...They look very happy in full sun...Crown shafts are a nice deep purple and fronds undersides are very silver...there are about 5 triples planted along a busy street about a mile from the coast...A.Purpurea gets my vote... :D

I voted Alex (again) based on it being the fastest and nicest one I'm growing. I also have purpurea, myolensis, and a small maxima... my vote might change with time.

Tuckeri seems rarer to me than myolensis, at least here in SoCal.

I got confused with the words "favorite" and "king" . What I meant to say is I reckon that the "Alex" IS the king of palms whilst my favorite Archo is, well, what a coincidence, it's the "alex" again.

Do you have pics of your Myo's? I have a tripple potted that are only on their 3rd pinnate leaves. They have been in for Winter and just put them back out yesterday for Spring.

A purpurea has my vote but...

Archontophoenix as a group are all very beautifull palms & I beleive that they are underutilised in areas where they can be grown.
