This is so sad. I don't think I could go down that track knowing that such a tragedy occurred.

I'm not familar with luge tracks, but it looks like there might be a flaw in the design of this one. The sides appears to be high (and maybe offer a little protection) for most of the track and then taper down for the straight section at the end of the track. Had the high walls continued another 10 feet or so and this luger may still have been injured but still alive.

Very sad in deed. It was also EXTREMELY BAD FORM for the Canadian coach to place the blame on the athlete. Why on earth would a Canadian official defend the track, when the rest of the Olympic committee deemed the track unsafe, and moved the men's starting point to the women's, and the women's to the juniors, because the speeds were too great, and posed a danger to the athletes? I just do not understand that. Shame on that Canadian official. VERY BAD form in deed, and it only makes Canada look worse because one of their officials spoke out too soon, and blamed the athlete when everyone else involved found it was the track that was in fact in question.

GOOD. IT was also bad form for NBC to show it over and over again, and then on top of that to show paramedics entebating (sp?) the victim up close, blood and all. We do not need to see that and quite honestly I found it disrespectful.
