Hello travellers, some of you may remember a year ago I posted a topic about the exploration of this mountain range. A few pics of palms were on the site. This time, only one, that I have not been abble to,identify.

Here it is, maybe some of you have good magnifying lenses

And here is the link to the expedition. It is in french, sorry about that but there are a few beautiful pictures of the place. Two persons from the expedition are still on site exploring and sending news to this blog every other day. Hope you will go to it and enjoy the exotic heat... It is very hot down there they say and lots of rain.

I will keep posting if I have news from them. I sent an email today. bruno

I have just noticed there is a british flag on the upper right of the screen for english speaking palm fanatics. So, go visit.

This morning there is a new post saying they have discovered paradise on earth.

I met the young chief of the expedition yesterday in Tana, Evrard.

He showed me lots of beautiful pics, We will have them soon. Quite a few of palms but, as he is not interested in palms like we are, he did not especially look at them. But the ones he took are superb, of superb palms.

The one I posted up top: he told me the place had been burned a few months before, that's why the palms looks so sad. I think it maybe a bismarckia.

Keep this thread under close watch!

Back on the screen! I finally received some magnificent pics of that expedition which sounded very hard physically. Because of the extreme difficulty to enter the area. You will see that from the first pic: up and down.EW_MakayNature2010_1282.jpg

All the pictures have been taken by Evrard Wendenbaum who is a journalist photographer, a really good one! He is at the origin of this expedition and looks like he is in his late thirties. A young explorer. If you have visited his site, the goal of these expeditions is to create a national park reserve there before everything is gone up in smoke...
