There is nothing wrong with you. I am always giving palms to family, friends, co workers and neighbors. That way I can enjoy a mini palm tour every time I visit them. Plus it is cool to see a palm you gave to someone grow into something special and if you are lucky they might catch the palm bug as well.

You must have very nice neighbors! I offered to plant palms on a neighbor's vacant lot and water them, fertilize them and care for them and whenever she needed to use her lot she can cut them down (or I'd remove them)...she told me no!!! It would have only made the drive, that all my neighbors need to pass, that much more beautiful. She has a beachfront residence in front of her vacant lot...she would have benefitted as well...oh well.

Half of the joy of growing palms is seeing the ones grow that you have given to neighbors or friends. I just consider it an extension of my own palm garden.

You can be my neighbor anytime, what, you're only about a hundred miles away, you're practically a neighbor . . . .

I've edged over the property line to the vacant canal lot next door: Malayan coconut, royal, Copernicia alba, assorted Sabal seedlings, wildflowers. If someone ever builds on it, they will have some built-in landscaping. Or we will be yanking out palms. We tried to buy it from the elderly woman who owns it but she still lives in the pre-apocalyptic real estate age: she wants several times what the lot is now worth. So, we plant palms and dump queen seeds and dead palm fronds at the back of her piece of paradise. Improves her lousy Cape Coral fill dirt. If she knew, she'd probably thank us.
