Hi jean-bernard,

For the best deal you want to look for an agricultural supplier in your region. They get them from the manufacturer, which you won't be able to do for smaller quantities, and if you go to a smaller shop, they will be more expensive. Use your French "Yellow Pages". They are often one of those products that agricultural suppliers stock but don't advertise.

Thanks John and Ed to reply me,

because I don't find grow bags at my usual nursery supplies,

i used to buy 1/2 gallon rose tree pots that i pay 17€ per 100 but I find that price expensive and I try to halve it.

I have never seen tree in this bag in French nurseries.

I don't think it is used in France

Is it used in Spain ? what the price ?

I can't believe "they don't use them in France". That's crazy, although like I said, you need to find a nursery supplier - not a nursery. I know of one about an hour from me. They have 1/2 gallon bags for 5 centimos and I think the 1 gallon bag is 8 centimos.

Be a little bit careful growing palms in thoes bags jean-bernard.

I've found that they dont drain as freely as pots - quite often a small ammount of water gets trapped in the folds of the bottom of the bag which can lead to root rot problems. Particularly bad in cold, wet conditions. Maybe punch a few extra holes in them, for good luck.

Pots are horribly expensive....

Cheers,

Until my ancient kiln blew up a few weeks ago, I used to make all my own pots. Luckily my inbuilt hoarding instinct supplied me with a shed full of plastic pots of every shape and size. I was thinking about getting some of the plastic bags however for the really big things in the hope they would be lighter to move around than a big plastic pot. Luckily I am able to kiss up to some of the nursery people who give me things like labels, tags and bags. I was also in the right place at the right time last week in one of the big hardware chain stores who were discontinuing selling 23cms terra cotta pots and were selling them for 25 cents each, instead the usual $4.75. Naturally I bought every single one they had !! Jean-Bernard, ask at a nursery that sells fruit trees etc, where they buy their bags from. Sometimes they will give you some as well as tell you their suppliers.

I make holes in the bottom but there are quickly algaes and moss that grows inside.

The best description is "bolsa cultivo" - and they are usually measured by dimension not volume, so "20 x 35" is a bag measuring 10cm x 10cm x 35cm (width x 2 x height).
