Today i take the pleasure in inviting you all,to a yet another repotting work and this time its Sabal Bermudana.And those fresh seeds came from Brother M@x. :)

Now lets see the palm in discussion ! :rolleyes: Its around 6 to 7 months old.

here is a visual of its new home,the medium is like always coarse grade washed river sand with dried leaf mulch :hmm: The pot size is 16 inches..

Now we gently placed the S.Berm into the dug-up pit of that pot along with the outer sleeve of the mineral water bottle.Once in place,we started to fill the side walls space of the mineral water bottle with the dug-up soil.then gently we lifted up the cut-away portion of that plastic water bottle.And filled up all the empty space seen around the palm roots and the side wall with soil(sand).

Here is a still taken after the fill-up operation..And all the details are written there in black & white on the outer wall of that plastic pot !

This still was taken after the flooding of the pot operation,this is done to see wheather the drain holes in the pot are functioning properly,and to prevent soil caving in on a later date & to remove air pockets.

Nice Work once again Kris! :)

I love the Sabals. I have some baby bermudana with 2-3 leaves.

as you know all roots with sabals are tender and don't like to be cut or disturbed, extra care is needed when handling these.

    Oh dear !! I always thought Sabals were tough old things and treated them accordingly. Luckily (it appears) they are alive and well. S. bermudana is a favourite of mine although I have never been able to get hold of one no matter how hard I look. Thanks Kris, next time I repot the Sabals I will know now to take a lot more care with the roots.

    i treat all the palms similarly and iam surprised that i have got lots of live palm saplings still with me.Since i never pamper my plants.And i do not have any shade house either.To the best of my knowledge goes Sabals could safetly be called as bullet proof palms.And they are doing really fine in our tropical south indian climate with high coastal influence.

    And i hope in days or months to come,even you get these sabal seeds from our forum friends as gift,as i did. :) Since many visit my thread so they would have known that you wish to grow this variety in your garden.

    This seems to be one of the faster Sabals. I have been impressed with the overall size of the strap leaves that emerge from the start. Totally different experience compared to Sabal palmetto.

    Zone 10a at best after 2007 AND 2013, on SW facing hill, 1 1/2 miles from coast in Oceanside, CA. 30-98 degrees, and 45-80deg. about 95% of the time.
