          Thanks for the nice pictures. I really enjoy the Braheas. I was curious, what are the green fan palms growing below the Brahea palm? Also, do you know approx. how many species are growing in the park?Keep the pics. coming if you have more. Thanks again.

Grass is always greener eh Jeff?   You've got nice Sabals available and like Braheas, where as we tend to ignore Braheas out here and are searching for Sabals!

(But you knew that) ??? :D

Zone 10a at best after 2007 AND 2013, on SW facing hill, 1 1/2 miles from coast in Oceanside, CA. 30-98 degrees, and 45-80deg. about 95% of the time.

The green fan is a Brahea edulis. There aren't too many uncommon palms at the Wild Animal Park. Plenty more at the Zoo. They do have quite a bit of different cycads and plants and probably around 20-30 different species of palms.

Thank you very much Kris. Yeah, I'm not sure what is wrong with that canary. That's why I posted that picture hoping that someone here knew what was wrong with it.

Those animals are so lucky! All those palms, with no effort. They can just sit back with a cactus cooler and be admired!

wow great photos! I would imagine that Brahea is in conditions almost the same as in its habitat!

Dear Friends  :)

have U all noticed that CIDP is in a damaged state,

at initial stages even i could not understand that the

canary date palm appears to be physically molested

by something ?

Now i like to take my chances on this guess_ i feel the

giraffe might have tickeled it neck as it was itching.

Dear folks iam not joking here,In india i have seen

elephants rubbing its body against the trees,if it itches.

May be the tall guy(Geraffie) might have rubbed or played

with CDIP top crown leaves since it happens to be a small

palm in height with reference to other date palms.

Any thoughts about it ?

Other than a Rhinocerous, I'm not sure any animal could survive "itching" itself on a Ph Canariensis crown.

Actually kris, the sick canary is in an exibit with a few bonobos, a fairly large type of monkey.
