A very healthy Areca ipot (15 gallon). Sweet! :)

Next: Pseudophoenix vinifera (15 gallon) from the isle of Hispanola. We saw this one at the Biennel in the Dominican Republic. This palm is slow but starts accelerating when they get this size.

Moose, Were you there yesterday or today? I was really blown away by the incredible number of rare Palms. I purchased an Archophoenix pupurea,an Areca macrocalyx var. red and a Carpoxolon macrospermum from Bill DeBoe(Pious Palms). I also picked up an Areca vestiara from Ron Croci.

I admired a rather large Cocothrinax borhidiana grown by Mike Harris (Carribean Palms) but will have to save up on that one.

The entire Palm Beach Palm Society and all Vendors should be praised for great work. It was hot but their hard work showed. Great stuff!

What you look for is what is looking

This is a well grown and not often encountered Coccothrinax alexandrii. It has a striking unique leaf shape for the coccothrinax genus in my opinion. :mrlooney:

Wow, I found another one. Can you tell that I really love Phoenicophorium borsigianum ?

Bubba - All day Saturday. I was there today until 10:15 am. Had a commitment in Miami, which I did not make due to my scenario on I-95. Knew you would turn up today. We were talking about you, your ears must have been burning! Yesterday we mentioned Jerry, Jerry@TreeZoo and we turned our heads and there he was heading in from the parking area. It's amazing how that happens.:floor::mrlooney:

Jeff - yes I was behaving myself :innocent: .

Hope you all enjoy the pictures.

Ron,

Thanks for posting all the great pictures and comments. We had a great time.

I bought 2 addtions for my garden - Calyptronoma rivalis and a beautiful Chambeyronia macrocarpa. Both great palms and both at great prices! I won't get them planted until next week. Betty and I leave on Thursday for a 3-day sale in Sarasota.

If anyone didn't make it to the sale, you missed some great buys and great palms. When I was typing up the species list, I was amazed at the variety. So many new genera for me! Thank goodness for that 4 years of Latin! Certainly made spelling those names easier!

And if anyone sees any spelling errors in the list, please let me know. I cheked them but my eyes were crossed after a while!

Who had the Areca Macrocalyx? and how much? I have killed a few smaller ones so I will stay away from this one but still want to know.

All who stopped by, Thanks for making some time to come out and support local growers. Ya'll really made the event come to life! Got to meet people for the first time that I have been mailing palms to for seasons. My only disappointment is that I get pulled 16 different ways with so many customers and I don't always have more than a few minutes to talk story.

Randy, thanks for your help setting up on Friday. Volunteers are the only way I could bring so much to the show.

Ron, I saw Moose's report on your newest acquisition, what else did you get?

Pedro, Really enjoyed speakin with ya. Lookin forward to seein' the Highwaymen, should be a real treat!

Meg and Tom, great to make your acquaintances. :) I'll be looking for your posts on the new Jungle!

Mike, good to see you as well. I'm interested in hearing what your mystery Dypsis turns out to be... I should have taken a pic and posted it here, email one to me and I'll do so for you.

Moose, It was fun talkin' shop with ya' on Saturday. BTW, what was in your cup? :D Thanks for photographin' the event and posting the pics here. I took a camera and really didn't get to use it very much. I was busy a good portion of the weekend, plenty of people were there purchasing palms!

Bubba, as always great to see ya'll. It was a treat to meet your better half and youngest. April and I will take ya'll up on a visit next time we are in your neck of the woods.

BigAl954, it was a pleasure to meet you guys and I'm sure we'll run into each other at the next sale!

This pic was taken courtesy of Broward's Mike Harris. (I'm certain he takes my camera so He stays on the other side of the lens!)

Thanks everyone. It is a ton of work to put these things on, but all the people make it worth it!

After some negotiation, I bought one of the young ones...it wasn't cheap. I hope I don't kill it. I'm going to wait until next year to put it in the ground, but I think I will put it in a bigger pot.
