Jeff,

A great looking plant for $150. Good luck, I hope you sell it(them). I just love mine here in my garden. I'm getting ready to plant a seond one. They grow very nicely in SoCal and here in south Florida too.

Nice Job Jeff! I'm experimenting with propagation on mine too. They aren't easy, that's for sure, which is why that's a great price for a large plant that's ready to go out into any condition in SoCal and thrive. A must have in my opinion! Much less risk than buying a tempermental palm. These guys cook!

Thanks guys! I have had great response for these plants. This is a tree I hope to see more often in Southern California.

I'd like to see one in Temecula, is it possible, or is my area too cold (high 20's F with light frost) or too hot (100 not uncommon with occasional 110+ )?

Gene,

The only way to get this plant here is by cuttings. As far as I understand it, this Fig is pollinated by a wasp only found in New Guinea.

Would you have seeds available?

Len,

I've got a few big trees in my yard. I never found cuttings to work. I think one must air layer the tips to get them to take. The leaves on mine are at least two feet long and about 18 inches wide with prominent red veins. They drop big figs but I've never seen seeds germinate below the tree.

I had two in the ground during the 07 freeze; I believe I got to around 26d and they both came thru no problem. No damage on one; the other had a branch die off but came back with no ill affects that spring.

Phil, sorry. I meant air layering. You are correct.

Matt, don't know about low temps, but mine was burned at 103F this spring. They look good in filtered light too. This is such a great plant and seems so happy with our climate that I think it's definitely worth a try.

That's right, I'm lettin my hair hang down (er, I mean fall out) , takin some risks, that is untill winter snaps me back to reality.

It's funny, I can't say, " Ficus dammaropsis " without an Aussie accent anymore after watching Matty's vid.

I purchased one from Jeff, and he shipped it (yes, shipped it) to me. I expected a tough adjustment period, but this plant just kept on growing. I'm thrilled. And, it's huge. I didn't expect it to do so well. I had previously purchased a lot of 6 in Hawaii, hoping to share with some friends around here, but.. all died. I suspect that having it adapt to the CA climate first is the trick. They probably don't like large changes.
